The LINXS (Institute of Advanced Neutron and X-ray Science) initiative Pandemics and Alertness (PandA) aims to strengthen collaborations between virologists and researchers using X-ray and neutron techniques, while increasing awareness of how large-scale research infrastructures such as MAX IV and ESS can contribute to virology research and pandemic preparedness.

The Swedish Society for Virology would like to highlight two upcoming PandA activities:

📅 PandA Symposium – Knowing and Fighting the Virus
3–4 November 2026, Lund, Sweden

The first PandA symposium will bring together researchers working on virus biology, structural biology, immunology, advanced imaging, and pandemic preparedness. The programme includes keynote lectures, invited talks, contributed presentations, posters, and opportunities to visit MAX IV or ESS. Registration opens in August.

💻 PandA Webinar Series

The open webinar series explores how X-ray and neutron techniques, together with complementary technologies and scientific networks, can advance virology research and pandemic preparedness. Talks also cover current topics in virology and are open to researchers from academia and industry.
